The of world Sarah Palin

Although, I am not a Sarah Palin fan, but fascinated by her. I am intrigued by her determination to be a political power house figure for the republican party. However, she seems to want to be an independent and not part of the “establishment.” She has no real allies and she is not one to anyone. That makes her a one woman crusader on a mission that I am not sure what it is. Anyway, here I go with my post of the latest commentaries, pictures, and videos covering her every action. Finally, I am not the only one fascinated by her.

Politician. Born Sarah Louise Heath on February 11, 1964, in Sandpoint, Idaho. At the age of three months, she moved to Alaska when her parents came to teach school in Skagway in southeast Alaska. Sarah Palin’s father, Charles, was a science teacher and track coach. Her mother, Sally, was a school secretary. Palin grew up in the small town of Wasilla, about 40 miles north of Anchorage. In 1982, she played on Wasilla High School’s state champion girls’ basketball team, picking up the nickname “Sarah Barracuda” for her intense playing style. An outdoors enthusiast, Palin grew up as an avid hunter and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, eating moose hamburgers and riding snowmobiles.

After graduating from Wasilla High in 1982, Sarah Palin wore the crown of Miss Wasilla in 1984 and was the runner-up in the Miss Alaska contest. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Idaho in 1987. She also became a television sports reporter in Anchorage.

Palin eloped with her high school sweetheart, Todd Palin, on August 29, 1988, and helped run his family’s commercial fishing business after their marriage. Todd, who is part Yu’pik Eskimo, also worked for BP at a Prudhoe Bay processing facility. He took leave from the company when his wife became governor to avoid a potential conflict of interest. Throughout their marriage Palin and her husband had five children: Bristol, Willow, Piper, Track and Trig.

In 1992, Palin decided to enter the political arena. Running as on the Republican ticket, she won a seat on the Wasilla City Council by opposing tax hikes and, four years later, she was elected mayor of Wasilla, knocking off three-term incumbent John Stein 651 to 440. As mayor, Palin cut property taxes and reduced spending. She also raised the city sales tax by half of a percent in order to build a popular sports complex and put more money into public safety. Mayor Palin also effectively used the system of congressional earmarks, collecting $26.9 million in such funding, according the independent watchdog group Taxpayers for Common Sense.

Palin ran her first statewide campaign in 2002 in a bid for the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor, but lost by fewer than 2,000 votes. Alaska Governor Frank Murkowski appointed Sarah Palin to chair the state’s Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in 2003. She resigned a year later in protest over what she perceived to be the “lack of ethics” of fellow Alaskan Republican leaders, including Republican Party Chair Randy Ruedrich. In 2006, Palin won the Republican primary for Governor, defeating Murkowski. She went on to win the general election in November 2006 by defeating former Democratic Governor Tony Knowles, 49 percent to 41 percent. With her election, Palin made history as the first female governor, as well as the youngest governor, of Alaska. She was also the state’s first governor to be born after Alaska achieved statehood in 1959.

While running for governor, Palin supported the so-called “bridge to nowhere,” a $400 million plan to build a bridge in a remote Alaskan community. Palin said the bridge was essential for local prosperity, but once she became governor she turned against it, citing rising costs and other priorities. “I told Congress thanks but no thanks for that bridge to nowhere up in Alaska,” Palin said. “If we wanted a bridge we’ll build it ourselves.”

Bio:

Banksy

Banksy is the pseudonym of a British graffiti artist, political activist and painter, whose identity is unconfirmed. His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine irreverent dark humor  with graffiti done in a distinctive stenciling technique. Such artistic works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world.

Banksy’s work was born out of the Bristol underground scene which involved collaborations between artists and musicians. According to author and graphic designer Tristan Manco, Banksy “was born in 1974 and raised in Bristol, England. The son of a photocopier technician, he trained as a butcher but became involved in graffiti during the great Bristol aerosol boom of the late 1980s.” Observers have noted that his style is similar to Blek le Rat , who began to work with stencils in 1981 in Paris and members of the anarcho-punk band Crass who maintained a graffiti stencil campaign on the London Tube System in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Known for his contempt for the government in labeling graffiti as vandalism merely because it does not serve a profit to them, Banksy displays his art on public surfaces such as walls and even going as far as to build physical prop pieces. Banksy does not sell photos of street graffiti directly himself; however, art auctioneers have been known to attempt to sell his street art on location and leave the problem of its removal in the hands of the winning bidder. Banksy’s first film, Exit Through the Gift Shop, billed as “the world’s first street art disaster movie”, made its debut at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. The film was released in the UK on 5 March (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banksy).

Here is a video that gives a bit of insight about how the mind of Banksy works.

Mrs Banksy unmasked: Pictured for the first time, the elusive wife of the world’s most secretive artist

By ANDY WHELAN
Last updated at 10:55 AM on 20th March 2011

Working happily at her laptop, she looks like just another unremarkable young professional.

But this is the first picture of Joy Millward, the very secretive wife of the world’s most secretive artist, Banksy.

The snap was taken as Ms Millward delivered a presentation about her job as a parliamentary lobbyist.

Out of the shadows: Joy Millward's identity has been a well kept secretOut of the shadows: Joy Millward’s identity has been a well kept secret

But while she may be happy to talk about her work, she is extremely reluctant to discuss her private life – determined, it seems, to do her bit to keep the mystique of the Banksy brand alive.

For years Banksy dumbfounded the art world by keeping his identity a secret while his stencil-style ‘guerrilla’ art gained global notoriety.

As the value of his work rocketred – Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are collectors – an urban myth emerged that Banksy was a talented tearaway from an underpriviliged background on an inner-city estate.

Unmasked: The real identity of street artist Banksy was revealed three years ago by the Mail on Sunday. But three years ago The Mail on Sunday finally unmasked Banksy as Robin Gunningham, a former public schoolboy who grew up in middle-class suburbia. And last week we revealed that he married 31-year-old Ms Millward in Las Vegas in January 2006.

Ms Millward enjoyed a similarly comfortable upbringing to her husband in the West Midlands. She and Banksy – who is believed to be 36 – are thought to have met in London in 2003 soon before she began working as a researcher for Labour MP Austin Mitchell.

In 2005 she set up Principle Affairs, a lobby group that supports charities.

Few would guess from this picture of Ms Millward, taken at the National Hepatitis C Conference in April 2007, that she normally lives as a virtual recluse.

But sources close to the couple have revealed the lengths they go to in order to avoid attention.

One said: ‘Joy and Robin live in an isolated community and have little to do with even their closest neighbours.

‘Even those they occasionally speak to have no idea who they really are. The only people who know his real identity are those in the inner circle, who have been vetted.

‘Some of Joy’s relatives have not been told who her husband is or what he does. Joy does tell people her husband is an artist of some type. She says he does the artwork for cook books and album covers. Banksy has told people he designs the sets for award ceremonies, which explains his frequent absences.’

The Mail on Sunday has made repeated attempts to contact Ms Millward but she did not respond to our messages.

Bulgarian Banksy

Sculptures of Soviet soldiers in Bulgarian capital have been transformed into Superman, Santa Claus and Ronald McDonald. Picture: AP

AN anonymous artist dubbed the Banksy of Bulgaria has transformed statues of Red Army soldiers into superhero and cartoon characters – an action that would have resulted in a firing squad 20 years ago.

Centre stage in the transformed monument in Sofia is Superman. To his left is Santa Claus and to his right McDonald’s mascot Ronald McDonald. Batman villain the Joker also makes an appearance.

The monument the artist defaced was imposed on Sofia in 1954 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Russia’s liberation of Bulgaria during the Second World War.

Monuments to Russia’s dominance over Bulgaria are fair game to graffiti artists these days.

Sofia woke up to the transformed monument yesterday morning but it is still not clear who is behind the display.

Updating post with more Banksy Art that I found on the internet.

It Ain’t Right

I’ve posted this blog to show support and show love to the LGBT community. In my post you will find stories, videos and information regarding the LGBT community.

All I have to say it ain’t right that lesbians, gay, bisexuals and  transgenders people have to be scrutinized for being who they are. It’s prejudice. These people have a hard enough time dealing with their sexuality and they don’t need us to judge them. So don’t judge. Let them be. We all have the same rights. No one has more rights than the other. So shut the fuck up if you are prejudiced against this group of people. In my dedication I post several videos one from The It Gets Better Project and by Gylne Tider Let it Be. I also have posted information on websites that provide support and some that do not support; organizations, government that currently does not support same sex marriage or the serving in the military if your are openly gay.

Harvey Milk was a civil rights advocate and was killed for it.

LGBT (also GLBT) and variations are initialisms used to refer collectively to lesbiangay, bisexualtransgender, and queer-identified people. Variations that are sometimes used include—but are not limited to—adding “Q” for queer or questioning, “I” for intersex, or “S” (or “A”) forstraight allies. While LGBT is often used as a short way to refer to the various LGBT demographic groups, LGBT individuals themselves usually identify by other labels (such as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer), or by no label at all.

Around the world, government policies regarding LGBT people range from the death penalty for sexual acts to civil marriages or partnerships for same-sex couples. Living conditions around the world also range from near-unanimous acceptance of public displays of affection to total discrimination in all areas such as housing or employment.

Will & Grace is an American television sitcom that was originally broadcast on NBC from 1998 to 2006. The show takes place in New York City and focuses on Will Truman, a gay lawyer, and his best friend Grace Adler, a straightJewish woman who runs her own interior design firm. Also featured are their friends Karen Walker, a rich socialite, and Jack McFarland, a struggling gay actor/singer/dancer who also has had brief careers as a choreographer, cater-waiter, talk-show host and nurse.

Selected quote

You have the audacity to talk about protecting families and children from the homosexual menace, while you yourselves tear apart families and drive children to despair. I don’t know why my son is gay, but I do know that God didn’t put him, and millions like him, on this Earth to give you someone to abuse.

EARLY YEARS

Barack Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4th, 1961. His father, Barack Obama Sr., was born and raised in a small village in Kenya, where he grew up herding goats with his own father, who was a domestic servant to the British.

Barack’s mother, Ann Dunham, grew up in small-town Kansas. Her father worked on oil rigs during the Depression, and then signed up for World War II after Pearl Harbor, where he marched across Europe in Patton’s army. Her mother went to work on a bomber assembly line, and after the war, they studied on the G.I. Bill, bought a house through the Federal Housing Program, and moved west to Hawaii.

It was there, at the University of Hawaii, where Barack’s parents met. His mother was a student there, and his father had won a scholarship that allowed him to leave Kenya and pursue his dreams in America.

Barack’s father eventually returned to Kenya, and Barack grew up with his mother in Hawaii, and for a few years in Indonesia. Later, he moved to New York, where he graduated from Columbia University in 1983.

THE COLLEGE YEARS

Remembering the values of empathy and service that his mother taught him, Barack put law school and corporate life on hold after college and moved to Chicago in 1985, where he became a community organizer with a church-based group seeking to improve living conditions in poor neighborhoods plagued with crime and high unemployment.

The group had some success, but Barack had come to realize that in order to truly improve the lives of people in that community and other communities, it would take not just a change at the local level, but a change in our laws and in our politics.

He went on to earn his law degree from Harvard in 1991, where he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. Soon after, he returned to Chicago to practice as a civil rights lawyer and teach constitutional law. Finally, his advocacy work led him to run for the Illinois State Senate, where he served for eight years. In 2004, he became the third African American since Reconstruction to be elected to the U.S. Senate.

POLITICAL CAREER

It has been the rich and varied experiences of Barack Obama’s life – growing up in different places with people who had differing ideas – that have animated his political journey. Amid the partisanship and bickering of today’s public debate, he still believes in the ability to unite people around a politics of purpose – a politics that puts solving the challenges of everyday Americans ahead of partisan calculation and political gain.

In the Illinois State Senate, this meant working with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead by creating programs like the state Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across the state. He also pushed through an expansion of early childhood education, and after a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.

In the U.S. Senate, he has focused on tackling the challenges of a globalized, 21st century world with fresh thinking and a politics that no longer settles for the lowest common denominator. His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent. He has also been the lead voice in championing ethics reform that would root out Jack Abramoff-style corruption in Congress.

As a member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan. Recognizing the terrorist threat posed by weapons of mass destruction, he traveled to Russia with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world. And knowing the threat we face to our economy and our security from America’s addiction to oil, he’s working to bring auto companies, unions, farmers, businesses and politicians of both parties together to promote the greater use of alternative fuels and higher fuel standards in our cars.

Whether it’s the poverty exposed by Katrina, the genocide in Darfur, or the role of faith in our politics, Barack Obama continues to speak out on the issues that will define America in the 21st century. But above all his accomplishments and experiences, he is most proud and grateful for his family. His wife, Michelle, and his two daughters, Malia, 9, and Sasha, 6, live on Chicago’s South Side.
